Stone Handicrafts

Stone craft existed in India since ancient times. Till today, excavations reveal carved stones which are 3000 years old. The stone craft of ancient times mainly involved carving of stones to make small weapons like arrow heads, spears, javelin points, hammers etc. As the time has passed, stone carving evolved into a form of art as a Home Decor. Our artisans first study the stone and then rough figures are removed from the slab. After the rough fingering, shaping & Minor carvings are generally done with a pointed chisel. The final figurine is smoothened with sand papers or files.

Zardozi

It is a heavy and elaborate metal embroidery from an Iranian and Indian-subcontinent that is done by our craftsmen on silk, satin or velvet fabrics. Designs are made using gold and silver threads with precious pearls, beads and stones.

This is one of the finest works of handicraft, which we found from our ancient times and historical back. It has existed in India since the time of Rigveda. It prospered during the reign of the Mughal emperor Akbar during the 17th century, but later a loss of royal patronage and industrialization led to its decline
